Ingrid, Ann, Nettie, Keith and Mike set out on Rudyard Lake at around 11:30AM on Wednesday the 24th of October in 2 canoes and 3 kayaks. Around the Sailing Club Nettie and Ann went to explore the left hand shore whilst Ingrid, Keith & Mike went to the far end.
We met up again on the return journey and headed back to the Activity Centre, hot coffees and lunch.
Ann and Nettie had seen massed flights of kingfishers. Mike was planning some self-rescue practice for the afternoon ... but he likes kingerfishers and it was cold ... and when it’s cold he found that he really likes kingfishers.
In the afternoon Diana joined Mike in his canoe, Ann joined Nettie in hers and we set off on search for Kingfishers. John had arrived and he raced down the lake in his kayak.
We could hear them but they’d gone into hiding ... so we waited ... and waited ... and waited
....... and eventually Mike and Diana saw kingfishers too. John joined us from the far end and caught a glimpse of the kingfishers as the skimmed over the water to the far bank.
Photos .. thanks to Ingrid & Diana .. missed the Kingfishers I’m afraid, they were too fast.
